Description:

Calcites from Lavrion are usually brown scalenohedrons and sometimes are actually ankerite or mixed with it. To my the exact chemistry of the large scalenohedral carbonate crystal is not so important as both carbonates are common from Lavrion and are very similar to each other. What is important is the nice association and blend with the green conichalcite along with a new, gemmy, colorless to white generation of calcite on top of the original crystal. As a bonus, there is some partial alteration of the carbonate crystals to gossan material on the periphery of the specimen.
