Here is a large an nice smithsonite specimen from the Jean Baptiste mine, with the quite rare beige-yellowish color tone (the piece glows in yellow color when backlit) and areas of reddish brown with a soft silky luster. The rounded formations remind a brain and are actually round aggregates of aggregated and rounded, rhombohedral crystals of smithsonite! The smithsonite grew as an encrustation pseudomorph or perimorph after scalenohedral calcite. An excellent and interesting Lavrion smithsonite from my personal collection.
