During the past decade, we have had a series of smithsonite finds of quite good quality. This piece comes from a new find that surpasses all previous ones and offers some fantastic Greek specimens. Some of those pieces even compete with some Kelly mine smithsonites. Here is a fine museum-sized example very atypical from this find for its rare (for Greece in general too) purplish color. The piece has fine luster and shows various colors, from purplish to pastel blue-green. A broken-rehealed area on the bottom left corner shows an intense blue color right under the purple. A unique large Lavrion smithsonite!
